The importance of Tokai Rika's existence in society

　The COVID-19 pandemic that started the previous year still has no end in sight, while in FY 2021, the U.S.-China trade friction and Russia's invasion of Ukraine have increased international tensions. As a result, various risks have become apparent for global companies. Even under such circumstances, it is important not only for our customers but also for our company to continue to provide a stable supply of products to achieve our next growth. Taking this opportunity, we will continue to strengthen our global supply system and improve the efficiency of our production system so that we can continue to meet the trust and expectations of our stakeholders.
　Recently, the significance of corporate existence in society has become an issue, but this is nothing new. As the word ‘‘corporate citizen’’ has been around for a long time, the idea that companies should be good citizens in local communities and contribute to society has been given high value. We believe that it is important not only to pursue profits, expand the scale of our business and sustain it, but also to give back to the local community. Two years have passed since I was appointed as President. From the very beginning of my appointment, I have always said, ‘‘We will continue to be the only one, and create not just products, but goods with value that truly delight our customers. Further, we will contribute to the communities that keep us in business and give back to the families of our employees.’’ While taking these things into account, we are also focusing on carbon neutrality and regional revitalization.
　Prevention of global warming is an urgent issue for all of us living on this Earth. Until now, we have been working on environmental preservation in a way that complies with laws and regulations. Going forward, we will strive to achieve carbon neutrality by balancing greenhouse gas emissions and absorption, and achieving zero emissions overall by 2050. We are also working on regional revitalization activities in cooperation with Oguchi Town, where our Head Office is located, and Toyokawa City, where our plant is located. We believe that our stance of creating a sustainable economy and society responsibly and growing together with local communities will further enhance the significance of our existence.
