Risk Management
With regard to the risks surrounding the company, including natural disasters, we are working at a company level to reduce and prevent any impact in the event that they manifest themselves. With the assumption that a large-scale earthquake will occur (something which is expected to happen in the near future), we place substantial importance on various activities for the purpose of “the safety of our employees’ lives,” “support for the recovery of our local community” and “prompt production recovery.
Conducting preventive activities against risks (including natural disasters), and initial action drills
In preparation for large-scale disasters such as Nankai megathrust earthquakes, we conduct company-wide evacuation drills every year for both day and night shifts to ensure the safety of our employees. We also regularly conduct training on the use of various fire extinguishing equipment under the guidance of the local fire department, strengthen our response to initial fire extinguishing, and strive to minimize damage. Last year we signed a disaster prevention agreement with Oguchi Town to support the local community, including the acceptance of nearby residents and the provision of disaster supplies and food. In the event of a disaster, we will provide smooth and reliable assistance to contribute to the reconstruction of the region.

Risk management
We have organized dedicated committees for each of the five priority areas with high disaster risk (semiconductors, power receiving/transforming, casting, painting, and mounting) and are implementing disaster risk reduction activities based on annual action plans. In addition, regular audits are conducted by officers and Audit & Supervisory Board Members, and we are actively working to improve the workplace environment and develop human resources to prevent accidents.

Business continuity plan (BCP)
Since January 2020 we have implemented various measures to prevent the spread of the COVID-19, especially in order for employees at production sites to work with peace of mind. This is an unprecedented crisis in terms of efforts to prevent the spread of infectious diseases on a global scale. Not only in Japan, but also in other countries and regions, restrictions on movement and instructions to suspend operations have been issued. Therefore, there were issues such as difficulty in obtaining parts and materials, inability to continue production and shipment, and response to sudden changes in operations from customers. Having experienced the Tokai heavy rain in September 2000, our crisis management activities assume disasters other than earthquakes. The spread of the infectious disease on a global scale has affected our entire supply chain, from our affiliated companies to our customers. However, through cooperation with each company and our customers, as well as a mutual backup system between regions, specialized departments are able to autonomously implement responses in a timely manner based on information collection and analysis. Therefore, we are able to continue our business without causing inconvenience to our customers.
Tokai Rika's BCP (= Business Continuity Plan) activities are comprehensively promoted by our company and entire supply chain as ‘‘All Hazard BCP.’’ In addition to preparing for a major earthquake, which is a concern, the entire company is working together to deal with natural disasters such as snow, wind, and flood damage, infectious diseases that we are currently experiencing, and threats related to communications and networks. We will continue to promote risk management activities while evaluating activities such as production recovery drills, in order to develop human resources who have the ability to adapt to disasters and improve the level of our overall Business Continuity Plan (BCP).

Measures against COVID-19
We would like to express our deepest sympathies to all those who have contracted COVID-19. We are implementing measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 inside and outside our company, giving top priority to preventing the spread of the infection and ensuring the safety of employees.

- Enforce hand-washing and cough etiquette
2. Business trips, meetings, and events
- Postponement of non-urgent domestic business trips, and overseas business trips are prohibited in principle

To prevent the spread of infection, we cooperate with the public health center in charge and take prompt action at the base where the infected employee was found.
[Specific correspondence]
- Survey of activities history of the infected employee and close contacts
- Instructions for staying home and confirmation of health status for close contacts
- Disinfection work in the base where the infected employee was working, under the guidance of the public health center in charge
