News Release

October 11, 2005

Aichi, Japan, October 11, 2005 - Tokai Rika Co., Ltd. today announced that Tokai Rika and Toyota Motor Corporation have jointly developed a Key Integrated Watch-the world's first watch that includes an integrated Smart Key feature, which allows the user to lock and unlock the door, as well as start the engine, simply by wearing it. This newly developed system has already been adopted for the Toyota Crown (Royal and Athlete series) released on October 4 and is being marketed as a genuine Toyota accessory at Toyota dealers nationwide (Tokyo Toyota Co., Ltd. and Tokyo Toyopet Motor Sales Co., Ltd. in the Tokyo area, and Osaka Toyopet Co., Ltd. in the Osaka area).

By managing to ensure efficient electro-magnetic communication between the watch and the car-despite the serious challenge posed by the watch's metal case-and by surmounting the tough size and thickness limitations, miniaturizing the product enough so it would fit in the limited space available, Tokai Rika has succeeded in creating a brand new paradigm-a "wearable key". This product embodies Tokai Rika's wish to create impressive new products to better connect people and cars.

Furthermore, since it is solar-powered the batteries will never have to be replaced.
